Mark Henry on production duties for Kingpen Slim’s “Dead” off of his Triple Beam Dreams project. Styles P on the assist. DMV meets NYC. You can download the entire mixtape here.
YOBi re-releases her “Set In Stone” track, adding French Montana to the lyricist lineup. I liked it without him, but I’ll take any excuse to post this track again, because I really, really liked it, even the first time around. Like I said the first time this dropped…if you get it, and you been in this situation, then you really get it. If you don’t…well, just hope you never have to know what she’s singing about. To anyone locked down right now…don’t worry, there are brighter days ahead. There might even be someone like YOBi waiting for you when you get out.
And for those who want a version without French Montana..
YOBi sits down with VIBE Vixen to discuss her inspiration, how she came up as a singer, day job woes, her mixtape, and more. I’m still bumping that latest single of hers. Los, I see you!
The New York-based songstress returns with her second single, with Jadakiss and Styles P on the assist, over a sample-driven beat based around the same loop as Nas’ “Represent.” This is for those of you out there in love with a dude locked down. Blows my mind how many people in the world are in that situation. But that’s another rant for another day.
The Heavy Hitter fam DJ Absolut brings out the always-welcome-in-my-iPod Styles P and Royce Da 5’9 for this cut, co-produced by Abso and Frado. This was a nice way to musically get my day going.
Excuse the screwy embed situation happening here, for some reason Duck Down blasted this out using Red Bull’s website to view the video, and it actually doesn’t seem to be on YouTube yet. So you get Red Bull’s glitches. Or maybe that’s just on my end? I don’t know, but this song is good enough to post the video, glitches and all. Just put it on a CD that will be in my car all summer most likely. Best track on the album IMO. W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) in stores now, cop that.
Torae and Styles P hop on a Nottz-produced remix of Rah Digga’s “You Got It.” What more can I say?
The Heavy Hitter DP One (also of Turntable Anihilists, the Universal Zulu Nation, etc.) is out chillin in Japan right now, and sent me through this video of him having some quality time with a crossfader during soundcheck at an event in Fukuoka. In case you’ve never seen him really spin, he’s a beast with the cuts. In fact you’ve probably heard his cuts before and didn’t even realize it. Like on this track for example…
This video almost flew under my radar and that’s a damn shame. Reks is a beast and he finally released some visuals to go along with a track from his recently released LP, which you should have in your possession by now. No, seriously. Cop that. It’s worth the money. Styles P is featured on this, and it’s just a damn good track. Congratulations to Reks and the Showoff Records fam for another great album.
